Franche DESPERE Louis Felix Marie Francois (Franchet dEsperey)

Franchet d'Espere (Franchet d'Esperey) Louis Felix Marie Francois (25.5.1856, Mostaganem, Algeria - 8/7/1942, Castle d'Amanse, Tarn), Marshal of France (1921), a member of the French Academy (1934). He graduated from Saint Sirskoe Military College (1876). Participated in the colonial wars in Indochina (1885-86), Morocco (1912), suppression of the Boxer Rebellion in China (1900). During the 1-st World War, 1914-18 corps commander 5 th Army, 1916-1917 - a group of armies, and in 1918 - Thessaloniki Front. In March - April 1919 commanded the French occupation troops in southern Russia. Author of several works on the history of the French army and navy.
