Biography ASHKENAZY Vladimir
Pianist and conductor, a Russian emigre. He was music director of the Royal Philharmonic in London in 1987 and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Virtuoso performed the works of Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Liszt. After training in Moscow, emigrated to the U.S. in 1958. In 1962 he and John Ogdon became the winners of the Tchaikovsky Competition. He lived in England since 1963 and moved to Iceland in 1968.
