Vargas Llosa, Mario (Vargas Llosa, Mrio) (p. 1936), the Peruvian novelist, one of the leading innovative writers of modern Latin American literature. Born March 28, 1936 in Arequipa. He studied at the Leoncio Prado Military School, then in the capital's University of San Marcos. In 1958 received a scholarship to the University of Madrid for a long time left for Europe and the U.S.. In 1967, won an international prize named after R. Gallegos, Vargas Llosa said the famous speech of the close relationship with the writer's social life. Subsequently, translating its words into action, running for the presidential elections in Peru in 1990, but was defeated.
Vargas Llosa's first novel "The City and the Dogs" (La ciudad y los perros, 1963) produced in Lima, a scandal that caused a public burning of books.
