Biography Gorski Alexander
Gorsky, Aleksandr Alekseevich (1871-1924), Russian ballet dancer, choreographer, teacher. Born in St. Petersburg 6 (18) August 1871. At the end of the St. Petersburg Theater School (1889) joined the troupe of the Mariinsky Theater, where he performed the classic characteristic of the grotesque and the role (1889-1900). The first production - "Clorinda - queen of the mountain fairies" (on the music team, in 1899). In the same year, Gorsky was sent to Moscow's Bolshoi Theater for performances there, "Sleeping Beauty" Petipa (music by Tchaikovsky). Since 1901 - director of ballet, in 1902-1924 - choreographer of the Bolshoi Theater. As head of the Moscow troupe, Gorski began to reform Ballet. Gorski tried to overcome many of the conventions of academic ballet 19.: Canonical structure, the separate existence of dance and pantomime. From literally repeated performances of the St. Petersburg Petipa quickly turned to their creative recycling: the first experience was "Don Quixote" (music by Minkus, 1900). Caring about the logic of the story, . historical authenticity and accuracy of national color (permanent co-Gorsky was an artist Konstantin Korovin), . replacing the abstract corps de ballet dance ensemble, . created his version of Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky (1901, . 1912, . 1922), . Giselle (music by A. Adam, . 1907, . 1911, . 1922) "Humpbacked Horse" (music by C. Puni, . 1901, . 1912, . 1914) and many other ballets, classical repertoire,


. Gorski has been influenced by the Moscow Art Theater, . which was manifested in his ballet "The daughter Gudule" (music by A. Simon Yu, . 1902), . live on stage live folk crowd, . and partly in the productions of "Salammbo" (music by A. F. Arends, . 1910) and "Love is quick! (the music of Edvard Grieg, . 1913),
. In 1916 he realized the experience of ballet to the music of the symphony (the Fifth Symphony Glazunov).

Value Gorsky for the Bolshoi Ballet is very large. Reforming the ballet, Gorsky was considered with the specifics of the Moscow theater, the commitment of his actors dramatize and character dance, his experiments have responded trends of Russian ballet in the early 20. Gorski has influenced the work of many major artists of the Moscow (in particular, Geltser, MM Mordkin). Working as a teacher in the school theater in the theater, brought up several generations of dancers in Moscow, who became his followers (VA Karalli, SV Fedorov, AM Messerer, etc.).

Gorsky died in Moscow on Oct. 20, 1924.
