He graduated from high school in the city of Liepaja (Latvia). In the 8 th class got carried away playing the guitar and began writing songs. In 1972 he assembled his first rock band.

1973-1975 he. served in the army (in Kharkov in the 'SCHOOL' and in the Amur region in the Army Air Defense). Held several solo exhibitions, painted the walls of the houses within the social movement 'Artists - the city', directed an amateur rock band.

In 1981 he moved to Leningrad. Worked as commercial artist in theaters 'Titan' and 'knowledge' on Nevsky Prospect.

In the period from 1982 to 1986. was a member of the City of club songs, club, art song 'East', participated in club concerts and festivals, as the author-performer.
