May 23, 1989 at the Bolshoi Drama went to view a new play. Appointed a day premiere, George Tovstonogov said goodbye to the actors, sat behind the wheel of his car and went home. The car stopped in the area of Suvorov and no longer moved from place. On this day BDT saw his chief director for the last time.
