Paul (Paul) P. Keres was born on January 7, 1916 in Narva, died in 1975.
Reporter. The repeated champion of Estonia, USSR Champion (1947, 1950, 1951). Participant and winner of many major international tournaments (in t. h. tournament in the Netherlands in 1938).
In the USSR team participated in the 10-15-second chess Olympiads (1952-62).
Results in tournaments candidates for a match with world champion: 1950 - 4 th place, 1953-2-4-th, 1956 and 1959 - 2 nd, 1962 - 2-3rd place.
Grandmaster of the USSR (1941), Honored Master of Sports (1948), an international grandmaster (1949), an international arbitrator for chess composition (1957).
The author of 'The theory of chess openings. Open Game '(h. 1 - 2, 1949 - 52; h. 3, entitled 'The French defense', 1958). Awarded 2 orders.
