Biography Lena Meyer-Landrut
Lena Meyer-Landrut was born on May 23, 1991 in Hannover. She is a German talented singer, known under the scenic name Lena. She is the winner of the international song competition Eurovision -2010 in Oslo.
Lena is the granddaughter of the native of Estonia Andreas Mayer-Landrut, the ambassador of the Western Germany in Soviet Union in Moscow from 1980 until 1983 and from 1987 until 1989 (the worker of German embassy in the USSR in fifties).
Lena is the only child in family, she started to take dance classes at the age of five years. At first she was engaged in ball dances, then - dances of various modern styles, switching to hip-hop and jazz dances. Meyer-Landrut played numerous German teleserials roles of the second plan, however she never officially studied in actor's or vocal schools. She's been studying in IGS Roderbruch Hannover where in April, 2010 she passed final examinations.
On March, 12th, 2010 Lena Mayer-Landrut got the right to represent the country at the international song competition Eurovision-2010 in Oslo with the song 'Satellite'. Lena appeared in the final competition which took place on Saturday, May, 29, 2010. According to toss-up, the representative of Germany acted at number 22 of 25 final participants. Lena Mayer-Landrut became the winner of 55th international competition of songs Eurovision-2010. She got 246 points, with great separation from the Turkish group MaNga which took the second place (170 points) and the Romanian duet of Paula Selin and Ovi, with 162 points who took the third place.
During a week after the victory in national selection the clip of 'Satellite' has been seen on popular video hosting YouTube more than 2,5 million times (to the first semi-final - already 9,7 million), thereby it overtook long before the competition many participants and winners of the competition of the last years. Three Lena's songs have taken first three places in German iTunes Store.
At the end of the competition Lena has won the main musical prize of Europe - crystal microphone.
