Biography Janush Morgenstern
Janush Morgenstern (pol. Janusz Morgenstern) is a Polish director, script writer, producer, actor.
Janush Morgenshtern was born in the village Mikulintsy on November, 16, 1922, in the family of David Morgenshterna and Ester (in girlhood - Druks). He was grown in Podolshchina where he attended school. He also studied in Pshevorsk, graduated from the Higher school of theater, cinema and television in Lodz in 1954. Janush worked as the director's assistant.
Morgenstern debuted in 1960 with the film 'Good-bye, See You Tomorrow', awarded by prizes in Stratford and San Francisco. The military drama 'Then will Come Silence' is among the most considerable works of the director, it devoted to liberating of the Polish territories, as well as the antitotalitarian tape 'Life Once Again', one of the sharpest political pictures in the Polish cinema of 60-s, attempt to expose stalinism crimes. The tape 'Smaller Sky' received Grand prix in Poitiers. It narrates about tragedy of the forty-year person who revolted against imposed unification of desires and positions, constant pursuit of career, about tragedy of the person who went on a trip without knowing its purpose. The director made big contribution in development of the Polish television cinema, having shot in 60-70 the following popular serials: 'Rate More Than Life' and "Columbusses".
Janush also shot the serials 'Polish Roads' and 'SOS', as well as feature films 'W Hour' and 'Queen of Spades'. Morgenstern was, in critics' opinion, one of the last romanticists of the Polish television. From 1978 Janush was the creative director of the creative film productions union 'Perspektiva'.
He died in Warsaw on Septmeber, 6 2011.
