Antonov: the new edition of the military doctrine of Russia is not threatening the West
The new edition of the military doctrine of Russia, approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the beginning of winter last year, does not threaten Western countries, said Deputy defense Minister Anatoly Antonov.
The new edition of the military doctrine was adopted in Russia by the end of December 2014. The main provisions remained the same, but the first time appeared the section on security interests in the Arctic, allied relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as about the danger of foreign private military organizations.
According to Antonov, updated version of the military doctrine adapted to the changes in the security sector for the period 2010. The document gives a detailed analysis of the military-political situation in the world, where in recent years there has been a series of "color" revolutions, the civil war in Ukraine, terrorist activity, "the heyday" of the "Islamic country" and more that the world is forcing the Commonwealth to live in anxiety.
"After these theses is it possible to say, as Is often used by our opponents that the New wording of the military doctrine threatens Western countries? Needless to say, no. It clearly thought over the document, emphasizing the defensive nature of the military policy of Russia with a specific list of common steps to strengthen peace and good neighbourliness, " said Antonov in the conversation at the beginning of the IV Metropolitan conference on international security on April 16-17.
