Man in south Russia kills girlfriend`s parents with axe
A young man has been detained in the southern Russian city of Yessentuki along with an accomplice on suspicion of hacking his girlfriend`s parents to death with an axe, investigators said on Monday.
The bodies of a 46-year-old man and his common-law wife were found in the basement of their house on Sunday. Police detained two men, born in 1991 and 1975, in connection with the murder later in the day.
Investigators said the detainees confessed to killing the sleeping couple with an axe as an act of revenge on their daughter, the girlfriend of one of the men who suspected her of cheating on him.
"A criminal case was launched," said Yekaterina Danilova, a spokeswoman for the local investigation department. "They [the detainees] face from eight to 20 years in prison."
