"Council of wise men" will meet in Astana with President Nazarbayev

Bossar noticed that the meeting will take place against the backdrop of global recognition and approval of the proposal of Kazakhstan on creation of the international Bank of low enriched uranium (LEU).
the Treaty establishing the international LEU Bank under IAEA auspices of the government of Kazakhstan and the Agency was signed in late summer. First it was claimed that this Bank is considered as one of the possible options for storing excess Iranian low-enriched uranium.
The IAEA LEU Bank is one of the mechanisms for assurance of nuclear fuel supply in different countries in case of violation of the existing mechanisms of these supplies. It is expected that the Bank will be located within the Ulba metallurgical plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk in the northeast of Kazakhstan. The Bank will be kept of LEU enriched up to 4, 95% uranium-235.
