In the US, police killed a black 23-year-old man
Police chief Edward Flynn said at a press conference late on Monday evening that the city was calmer on Monday, after the night on Saturday and on Sunday evening there was a major unrest in the fatal police shooting of a black man. The city has in force a curfew for teenagers.
The problems started Saturday afternoon when police stopped the car, which was driving suspicious person, said Flynn. Smith jumped out of the car with a gun in his hand. A police officer gave chase before he shot 23-year-old young man. Violence broke out late in the evening.
During the press conference, Barrett said that people were going to the place around 5 PM on Saturday, but their rally was peaceful, and he thought that everything is under control. At another press conference on Sunday afternoon, Flynn spoke about the new details showing that the officer who opened fire was black, and Smith. It also became known that Smith refused to drop the weapon, police shot the suspect in the chest and arm. Some witnesses claim that the suspect was shot in the back.
Around 10:30 PM a group of around 100 demonstrators started marching through the streets, eventually blocking the intersection near the BP gas station that burned last night. They threw bottles, chunks of concrete and rocks at officers. 7 officers were injured and 14 people arrested during a demonstration. 18-year-old man was shot near the intersection. Police had to use an armored vehicle to rescue him. He was taken to the hospital, but Flynn said that his life was not in danger.
