In Melbourne the car crashed into the crowd


At least 3 people were killed and 20 people were injured when the car crashed into a crowd of pedestrians in a busy shopping district in the city centre of Melbourne.

Stuart Bateson, a police spokesman said that the man "intentionally drove into pedestrians" on Thursday around 2 PM. "We believe that this is linked to the earlier stabbing," he said, adding that police are investigating the accident as a terrorist act. Bateson said that there is no further danger to the public, but said police are "asking the public to be vigilant."

According to CNN-partner Sky News, the suspect was arrested at the scene, where footage showed him lying on the ground, dressed only in red underwear and white shoes. The wreckage of half of the pram stuck on the hood of the car, reports Sky. About four children are being treated at the Royal children's hospital in Melbourne.
