Suspect in the murder of Kim Jong-Nam was released
Suspect in the murder of Kim Jong-Nam, a citizen of North Korea Lee Jung-Chul left the headquarters of the police in Malaysia on Friday under heavy security.
If currently handed over to the immigration service and transported to the international airport of Kuala Lumpur, said the national Deputy inspector-General of police Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
The police do not have sufficient evidence to charge Lee, said the Malaysian attorney General Mohamed Apandi Ali on Thursday. Ali said that Chol will be deported to North Korea after his release.
Kim, the elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN, was killed on February 13 when he was supposed to Board a flight in the Chinese controlled territory of Macau. Two women have been charged in the murder of Kim, who was killed by lethal nerve agents at the international airport in Kuala Lumpur.
Lee was the only North Korean who was arrested in the case, but investigators called the 4 North Korean suspects who are believed to have returned to Pyongyang. Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced on Thursday that the North Koreans now need to obtain a visa to travel to the country.
Malaysian citizens were the only ones in the world who could go into North Korea without a visa.
