Leona Lewis struggling with single status
Leona Lewis "fought tooth and nail" to save her relationship, and is struggling to cope with being alone.
Leona and Lou Al-Chamaa had been dating for ten years when they called time on their romance earlier this month. Although neither has spoken about the split it is thought they parted ways because Lou found Leona`s hectic work schedule too hard to deal with. He is based in London while she has been spending increased amounts of time working on music in Los Angeles, and they drifted apart.
Leona is currently completing her first solo tour, and has been finding it lonely on the road. "This has been coming for over a year now, but Leona fought tooth and nail to keep things together," a source told Look magazine.
"She and Lou actually went through a trial separation to see if that helped, but all it did was prove they are living separate lives. It will have been absolutely devastating for her to accept it was over. She`s been a bit tearful on tour, but everyone has been trying to keep her spirits up. It?s hard for her to be without her soulmate."
Lou works as a talent scout for Sony, meaning he is also busy much of the time. The pair are said to have struggled to have found time for each other because their schedules often clashed.
The star`s tour is said to have been a source of stress for Lou, who was unable to travel with her due to work commitments.
Although they were together for a decade the pair weren`t engaged, although those close to the star say she "absolutely wanted" to marry Lou. He is said to have felt the same way and also wanted to start a family, which Leona didn`t feel ready for.
"Deep down, Leona will always love him, and I?m sure he dearly wishes they`d been able to make it work," the source added. "Leona`s challenge is to move forward without him."
