"Mouse fever" registered in Russian republic
Outbreak of hemorrhagic fever with nephritic syndrome is registered in Kazan.
As officials of Tatarstan Rospotrebsoyuz informed in October 2005, in Kazan 38 people were infected, over first decade of November, the number of patients came up to 48.
Two residents of Almetyevsk region died from the infection of the fatal virus. Infection outbreaks are registered in most Tatarstan regions.
As the chief of the Federal Department of Customers Rights Protection Viktor Morozov informed, expansion of virus is connected with natural nidus: on the territory of the republic the red vole mouse lives which is a carrier of disease. That?s why the disease is also called "mouse fever".
The main doctor of Zelenodolsk branch of Sanitary and Epidemiologic Center Ruslan Zainetdinov characterizing the situation in the region pointed out that in 2005 government didn?t take measures to decrease the amount of rodents, that?s why the number of red field-voles increased.
Specialists warn that disease start with symptoms like temperature rise, head-ache, muscle ache, nausea, vomit. The first symptoms are similar when patients catch flu. That?s why there were cases of the wrong diagnose what caused lethal end.
