Russia not to buy Ukrainian weapon for gas
The meeting of Russian and Ukrainian defense ministers has been arranged today.
Some aspects in relationships between two countries were discussed during negotiations. Particularly, a question of payment for Russian gas was discussed. The head of Russian Defense Ministry Sergey Ivanov refused Ukrainian offer about gas supply in exchange for weapon. S. Ivanov said time of barter transactions became a thing of the past and if the talk is about "finished samples of armament, Russia did not buy it in Ukraine since the last century". At the same time the minister said since times of the Soviet Union there was a tie between states for production of accessories for some types of armament. "This tie is being reduced insensibly", - said S. Ivanov.
The head of Ukrainian Defense Ministry Anatoly Gritsenko in his turn said in the area of military departments of Russia and Ukraine there was no such announcement. "That is early question", - noticed he.
Moreover, Russian defense minister said he assumed the possibility of cutting down of military and military technical cooperation with Ukraine in case of its joining NATO. He noticed to join or not to join every organization or alliance is a sovereign right for every state. At the same time, said Ivanov, another state?s right is to choose other partners in military and military-technical field. "I suppose after Ukrain joins NATO our cooperation in the area of military departments might reduce", - said the head of Russian Defense Ministry.
