Director of Hermitage to be awarded with Finnish lion
Director of State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky is awarded with Finish lion order for contribution to cultural exchange between Russia and Finland.
He will be granted title of order commander. Ceremony will take place on December 9 at Georgian hall of Hermitage with participation of Finnish Ambassador.
Deputy of Mikhail Piotrovsky and head Russian King of Arms Georgy Vilinbakhov will be awarded with knight sign of Finnish White Rose of first level. Vilinbakhov organized several Finish-Russian exhibitions, including military ones. He also participated in organization of large exposition devoted to Gustav Mannergame in January 2005. Because Mannergame established order of White rose, first national award, in 1919, decorating of Georgy Vilinbakhov is especially symbolic.
Order of Finish lion appeared in 1942 for encouragement of military and civic persons, working for the welfare of Finland.
