Two experts arrested on case of swimming pool collapse in Chusovoi
The office of Public Prosecutor obtained sanction for arrest of the LLC "UralPromExpert" employees Alexei Shvetsov and Kelsiy Sannikov. On December 12 the prosecutor managed to convince the court of need to arrest both detainees on the case of the swimming pool collapse, informed the Prosecutor-General of Russia deputy Sergei Gerasimov. The matter concerns the swimming pool roof collapse in Chusovoi town of Permsky krai on December 4 2005. Four women and 10 children died under the ruins, 18 people were injured.
56 people are declared victims on this case.
The commission of Chusovoi metallurgical works, owner of the swimming pool, was established for the case investigation.
According to preliminary finding, the roof collapse was caused by metal structure corrosion and errors in building design.
According to Office of Public Prosecutor, the experts Shvetsov and Sannikov knew about unserviceability of "Dolphin", but disguised the information. In August 2004 they released the false conclusion on the swimming pool condition. Shvetsov is the chief engineer of "UralPromExpert", and Sannikov conducted technical examination of building structure as a part of expert group.
