Baby car "Oka" to be taken out from production in 2006
The baby car "Oka" will be taken out from production in June 2006, declared the JSC "Severstal-avto" director-general Vadim Shvetsov today in Naberezhnye Chelny (Tatarstan). "The new ecology standards Euro-2 are coming into force in July 2006. In this connection, the JSC "Baby car factory" is to finish to produce the "Oka" car", he said. According to Shvetsov, in the first half of 2006 the factory is to produce 10 thousand cars "Oka". However, if the demand for the "people`s car" is higher, production volume may be increased. Spare parts for "Oka" are to be produced in customary regime. The successor of "Oka" will be announced at the specially held conference in February 2006, promised the "Severstal-avto" director-general. According to the information from the JSC "Baby car factory", 31 thousand cars "Oka" were produced in 2005, in 2004 production volume being over 40 thousand cars.
