Sakhalin businessman accused of illegal crab fishery
Interregional nature-conservative Office of Prosecutor of Kamchatskaya oblast accused general director of Sakhalin company "Kilvator-1" Alexander Maslichenko of illegal fishery organization. This was informed by nature-conservative prosecutor Alexander Teplyakov.
By his words, Maslichenko was arrested by court decision in South Sakhalin port Korsakov and conveyed to investigation isolator of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski. "Ship "Saurdou", owned by company "Kilvator-1", was detained by frontier guards in Okhotsk Sea for illegal crab fishery. 9 out of 13 crew members gave evidence that they were involved in illegal fishery. They also confirmed that just before arrest of the ship, 20 tons of alive crabs were thrown overboard", - said Teplyakov.
Along with Alexander Maslichenko 4 crew members were conveyed to Petropavlovsk. Office of Prosecutor supposes that they were also involved in organization of illegal crab fishery. All lawbreakers are brought a charge according to article 201 part 2 of Russian Criminal Code "Abuse of authorities" and article 253 part 2 "Violation of Russian legislation about continental shelf and exclusive economic zone of Russia".
In case the guilt is proven, accused will be sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
