Belarus president Lukashenko not afraid of election
4 candidates are nominated for presidency in Belarus republic at present moment. The election will be held on March 19.
Necessary amount of electors` signatures for nomination were handed in territorial committees by the leader of Liberal-democratic party Sergey Gaidukevich, the current president Alexander Lukashenko, the "united candidate" from opposition Alexander Milinkevich and the leader of Belarus social-democratic party "Gramada" Alexander Kozulin. Now they have to put in applications, questionnaires and declarations about income to Central Election Committee.
Alexander Lukashenko says that Belarus opposition is not ready to govern the country. "Belarus political opposition regards election as source of income. They will be financed by West and several Russian oligarchs", - said the president. Lukashenko has noted that his trump card is an absence of fear to lose. "If people don`t trust me, I will not be disappointed, - he said. - I honestly served to my nation. If I win election I will work even harder feeling the support of people".
Talking about "orange" revolution at post-Soviet territory, Lukashenko has noted that the only ground for revolt is a poor well-being of the nation.
The opposition promises revolution in Belarus only in case of presidential election results` falsification. By words of Alexander Milinkevich, "the democratic coalition under his leadership doesn`t appeal to revolution. And people don`t want one. If we lose in fair election, we will have no claims. But if results of election are faked-up, people will go out to the street".
