Ministry of Foreign Affairs starts to grant visa for Russian soldiers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia began to issue Georgian visas to the servicemen of the Group of Russian forces in Transcaucasia. The chapter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gela Bezhuashvili reported about it on Wednesday.
"For those servicemen, who have Georgian visas which elapsed the period of validity, we began the procedure of granting of a visa yesterday, 21 February" he said.
Minister specified that the discussion deals with 1200 soldiers and members of their families.
Bezhuashvili emphasized that the decision of the embassy of the Russian Federation about the stopping of granting of a visa for the citizens of Georgia cannot have anything in common with a question of the delivery of Georgian visas for the Russian soldiers.
Meanwhile as the deputy chief of parliamentary committee on defense and safety Nika Rurua reported, the curtailment of granting of a visa to Georgian citizens "will not give any effect to Russia".
"Those Russian serviceman who concludes the period of rotation, nevertheless will not reveal Georgian visas" said Rurua.
