According to the data of the Ministry of Internal affairs of Russia, in All-Russian Protest action against the reform of Housing maintenance and utilities board and an increase of communal tariffs more than 125,5 thousand people participated.
The meetings of protest against an increase in the tariffs on the public services, energy resources, water supply, and also increases of the pay for the passage in the public transport and prices of the medicines took place in 363 cities and populated areas. "All the measures passed quietly, the serious disturbances of the law and any other incidents were not fixed" said in Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The intensive details of militiamen ensured the safety of the meeting. "16,3 thousand militiamen and about 1 thousand soldiers of internal troops were keeping the order in the country" informed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennadi Zyuganov stated on the eve of the action: "Voters must realize that exorbitant rent is the payment for silence. For this reason we call to state at the mass meetings: "No - to antinational Housing code and to predatory tariffs! Yes - to the limitation of the rent by 10 percent of family income!" According to him, new tariffs on Housing maintenance and utilities board are not valid, not honest, not economically grounded.
"when thousands of indignant citizens surround the city hall or municipality - the authorities realize the groundlessness of new tariffs quicker and reject the attempts to shift for the arms of citizens all expenses of confusion, mismanagement and incompetence in the housing and utilities sphere" said Zyuganov.
