No more drugs
"Increase of drug-users has stopped" announced the chief of the Federal Department of Drug Circulation Control Victor Cherkesov.
"Over the last two years the increase of drug-using has stopped in the country and there is no rising tendency of drug-users", - he informed in the interview.
"In 90-s drug-users explosion was abnormal, even in comparison with the countries where the problem of drugs was also very important. The number of drug-users increased from 50-80thousand up to 6mln. Most of the users were young people", - informed Cherkesov.
According to Cherkesov nowadays at the drug-market opiate and heroin are in popular demand.
"Mostly in the regions located near the transit railroads it?s easy to get afghan opiate. These regions are: Western Siberia, Kazakhstan, Yamalo-Nenezky and Hanti-Mansisky regions, big cities - Moscow and Saint-Petersburgh", - said Cherkesov.
Statistics shows about 15mln Russians tried drugs.
The deputy director of the Federal Department of Drug Circulation Control Oleg Harichkin informed new program against drug-using will be held from 2005 till 2009. This program is expected to reduce the amount of drug-users on 16-20%. Thus about 600-800 thousand drug-users will be saved.
