New Russian nuclear fuel works successfully in Poland
Nuclear fuel Assembly of the organization of Rosatom TVEL has succeeded in Polish experimental reactor " Maria ". Completed initiated in 2013 reactor test 2 experimental fuel assemblies (FA) Mr with low-enriched fuel for a research reactor Maria and conducted post-primary research. According to the results of inspection of the fuel assemblies, the parties concluded that the Russian the Assembly has to maintain integrity and not have external deformation. Reduction program for fuel enrichment research and test boilers (Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors Program (RERTR) is one of the key areas of cooperation between Russia and Poland in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy and an important element in the implementation of agreements between the Russian Federation and the USA on the translation of research boilers with highly enriched fuel (HEU) to low enriched (LEU). The program is aimed at strengthening the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The fuel Company of Rosatom TVEL has developed and mastered the mass production of new types of fuel with LEU for research boilers, which helped with the 2013 completely stop the supply abroad of fuel assemblies with highly enriched uranium. On a workstation with LEU fuel were converted research reactors of Russian design in Hungary, Vietnam, Libya, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. The fuel Company of Rosatom TVEL - manufacturer and supplier of fuel for a research boiler, built With Soviet technical assistance. The work on creation of low-enriched fuel allow the organization to keep their seats on the traditional markets for the supply of Russian nuclear fuel. The Maria reactor, named after the famous Polish scientist, twice Nobel laureate Maria sk?odowska-Curie, was launched in 1974. Currently this is the only valid research Reactor in Poland.
