Obraztsova was born in 1939 in Leningrad in 1943 it was evacuated together with the family from the besieged city. In 1948-1954 years sang in the children's choir of the Leningrad Palace of pioneers named Zhdanov, then studied at the Music school of the Tchaikovsky in Taganrog. In 1962 he won first prize at the all-Union competition of vocalists named after Glinka, studied at the Conservatory. While still a student, she made her debut at the Bolshoi theatre.

Her extensive concert repertoire includes works by more than 100 composers of the XVIII-XX centuries: Opera, chamber music, cantatas and oratorios, Church music, Russian folk songs, old songs, classic operetta, Sony and jazz standards. Elena Obraztsova taught at the Tokyo Academy of music and many other academies around the world. Was a noble member of Pushkin Academy, academician of the Russian Academy of art and musical performance, academician of the Russian Academy of arts, member of the International society of friends of the Russian Museum.
