Media: head of the Central Bank of Austria against the shutdown of the Russian credit organizations from SWIFT
MOSCOW, 26 Feb - RIA Novosti/Prime. Member of the Board of governors of the European Central Bank, the head of the Central Bank of Austria, the Ewald Nowotny (Ewald Nowotny) spoke out against the possible shutdown of the Russian credit organizations from the SWIFT system in the framework of enhanced penalties regarding Russia, announced on Thursday the Australian Agency.
The potential loss of credit institutions from the SWIFT system, it would be "very problematic, because it can undermine the credibility of the system," said Novotny.
Austria will not be affected by disabling the Russian credit organizations from the system, however, Russia could retaliate, which can affect all Austrian organizations working in the country, informs Reuters referring to the Austrian Agency.
Member of the governing Council of the ECB clarified that banks such as Raiffeisen Bank international and Bank Austria do not intend to leave the Russian Federation, because they have proven themselves in the form of a stable financial institutions in light of the worsening economic situation in the country.
