A UK national killed in Moscow Region
Moscow Regional Prosecution has started investigation of murder of a UK national. As a source at the Moscow Regional Interior Ministry Department said, on June 3 a body of unidentified woman was found in the forest near the village of Repikhovo (Sergiyev Posad District) with a rope with a loop tied to her neck. Under preliminary reports, the woman died of asphyxiation a week before it.
The prosecution started criminal proceedings on the charge of premeditated murder. The investigators indentified the woman. She was a UK national, reportedly called Pamela Crain, 72, resident of New Zealand. According to the investigation, Pamela Crain arrived in Russia as a member of a tourist group on May 27 and stayed at a hotel in Moscow. In the morning of June 29, the woman decided to visit Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra (The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius) outside Moscow. Nobody has seen her since then.
One of the versions of the investigation is the woman was murdered with the aim of robbery. The investigation continues.
