Astronaut Russia. Born September 5, 1929 in the village Shorshely Mariinsko Posad district of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (now the Republic of Chuvashia). In 1947 he graduated Mariinsko Posad Forestry College and was assigned to the work of a master trust 'Yuzhkarelles' on logging in Karelia.
