In 1954 he graduated from the journalism faculty of Moscow State University (MSU) of. M. V. University.
From 1951 to 1958 - a literary fellow newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets. From 1958 to 1971 he worked in the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda", where he rose from the literary officer to deputy chief editor of the newspaper.
