Born February 6, 1936 in the village of October of the Kharkiv region of the Ukrainian SSR.
In 1958 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism, Vilnius State University. V. Kapsukas, in 1981 - Academy of Social Sciences under the CPSU Central Committee. Candidate in Philosophy.
From 1958 to 1966 he worked as a literary associate regional youth newspaper "Lenin's change" in the Belgorod region. From 1966 to 1973 - Head of the Department of Culture, deputy editor of Belgorod truth.
. In 1973 - 75 - Head of the Propaganda Department of the Belgorod Regional Party Committee from 1975 to 1976 - Editor of the Belgorod truth.

. In 1985 he was appointed chief editor of the newspaper "Trud".
