Biography Chevakinsky Savva Ivanovich
From an impoverished old noble family. Detected first in the Moscow School of navigational science, and in 1729, Mr.. the Naval Academy in St. Petersburg. In 1732, Mr.. taken N. K. Korobov apprenticed. Since 1739, Mr.. is at the Admiralty Office in rank Gezalim. In 1745 - the architect in the rank of Major. In the same year, Elizabeth was appointed architect of Tsarskoe Selo. From 1755 to 1757-part-architect of the Academy of Sciences, where he led the architectural class. Among the students - in. I. Bazhenov, AND. E. The old and the others. In 1767, Mr.. retired.
Largest after Rastrelli Representative Elizabethan Baroque. A prominent representative of Russian culture and social activist. Creativity Chevakinsky studied fairly complete, although a number of buildings attributed to him without sufficient grounds.
Major works: The Grand Palace in Tsarskoe Selo (with A. V. Kvasov), later rebuilt by Rastrelli, Pavilion Monbizhu in the Alexander Park (on the site of Arsenal), in St. Petersburg, Nicholas Naval Cathedral, the construction of the palace of Count I. I. Shuvalov on the Italian street, the palace of Count II. B. Sheremetev on Fontanka (with F. S. Argunov) Kunstkamery recovery after fire, timber depots "New Holland"
