Born April 26, 1942, Mr.. in Chelyabinsk. Father - Igor Fyodorovich Belza (1904-1994). Mother - Belza-Doroshuk (Gulinsky) Zoya K. (1921-1999). Children: Igor Belza Svyatoslavovych (1971 g.rozhd.) Belza Fedor Svyatoslavovych (1981 g.rozhd.).

He graduated from the Philological Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (1960-1965 gg.) Specialty "philologist, literary critic".

Since 1965, Mr.. worked as a junior, and since 1986. present - Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of World Literature Gorky Russia Academy of Sciences. In 1979-1989 he. was a part-time columnist for the foreign culture of the Literary Gazette. In 1988-1996 he. - Author and presenter of TV program "Music in the Air" (Ostankino, ORT). From 1993 to 1995. was artistic director of the studio music and entertainment programs "Ostankino". Currently Svyatoslav Belza leads series "Masterpieces of World Music Theater" on TV channel "Culture". In 1993 and 1998. was chairman of the jury of the festival "Kinoshock".

In 1990. was published 2 nd edition of the book "The man who reads. Homo Legens "(Moscow: Progress Publishers, 1983), where Svyatoslav Belza acted as originator and author of the foreword. Some of his works translated into English, Italian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and other languages:

. SI Belza - member of Russia's Academy of Art (1997), a member of Russia's Academy of Television (1994), a member of the Writers' Union (1975), the Union of Journalists of Russia (1971) and the Union of Theater Workers (1999 g.)
. He is also the doyen of the English Club, a member of the Club "Monolith", and a member of the Writers' Club CDL.

In 1994. awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of Russia", is also a distinguished artist of Polish Culture (1988). Decorated Officer Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland (1997), the Order of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker "for augmenting the good on earth" (Ukraine), Honorary Badge "Public Recognition" (1999), medals.

In school and college years was engaged in fencing, was a champion of Moscow State University and a champion among youths. From his father inherited the passion Bibliophilia. Music and related educational activities have become a second profession. The family lives Belza cat named Bastik II.
