Biography Helena Roerich
Born in St. Petersburg February 12, 1879 in a noble family, distinguished not only for its nobility, but also culturally.

On the maternal line of her great-grandfather was the great Russian commander Mikhail Kutuzov Illarionovich. Among her relatives composer Stamp. Mussorgsky and poet AA. Golenishchev-Kutuzov.

At an early age while studying with teachers of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, revealed his outstanding musical talent of Helena. Later, as a pianist, she performed solo concerts.

In 1901 Helena married for NK. Roerich. Since then, they were inseparable on how worldly and spiritual-creative. She became his companion in all socio-cultural affairs and the inspiration of many of his paintings and undertakings. Together with her husband, she is involved in the heroic Trans Expeditions.

After Expeditions Roerich family settled in the Himalayas, the Kullu valley, where the Himalayan Institute of Scientific Research 'Urusvati', honorary president-founder of which is Helena.

Years of life in India - the most important and intensive labor E.I. Roerich. It was completed the bulk of 14 volumes of the fundamental work of a series of Agni Yoga (Living Ethics). On the title pages of these books there is no author's name, because Helena believed that stated in these sacred wisdom can not be the author's property. Away, she felt the author of three books published under different pseudonyms: 'Basics of Buddhism' (1927), 'Cryptograms of the East' (1929), 'The Banner of St. Sergius Radonezhskogo' (1934).

In addition, she maintained an active correspondence with many people from Europe, Asia and America. (Priceless volumes of her letters were published in Riga, Novosibirsk, Minsk and Moscow). Helena Roerich also translated. She has translated into Russian excerpts from the book 'Letters to the Mahatmas Sinnet' ( 'Bowl of the East'), as well as two volumes of 'The Secret Doctrine' by Helena Blavatsky.

After retiring from the physical plan of her husband, E.I. Roerich moved to Kalimpong (Eastern Himalayas, India), where virtually no help from their fans and hope to return home in the selfless labor of giving all their strength for the benefit of Earth and humans. Here, 5 October 1955, she graduated from their earthly days.
