Board of George V began during the constitutional crisis in the House of Lords, which refused to approve the bill of the Parliament, limiting its power to veto bills in the House of Commons. To resolve the crisis, George V has promised additional support for the Liberal government, but after the victory of the Liberal Party in elections in 1910, a bill was approved without additional measures.
In 1911, George V visited India. This was the only British monarch who has made a similar move, the history of British rule over India.

George V was directly involved in the establishment of Westminster Act 1931, under which the parliaments of the British dominions could make their own laws, regardless of UK. This increased the importance of the monarchy, as the Dominions, no longer subordinate to the British Parliament, were now linked by a common oath of loyalty crown.
George V began the tradition of annual Christmas broadcasts for the sovereign territories (now - to the Commonwealth of Nations), which was first performed in 1932.
