French composer, pianist, conductor, critic. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire (1884). Student A. Marmontel (piano), E. Gyro (composition). As home pianist Russian patron H. F. von Meck - accompanied by her travels in Europe, in 1881 and 1882 went to Russia. Served as a conductor (in 1913 in Moscow and St. Petersburg) and pianist with the execution of mostly his own works, as well as a music critic (since 1901).
