Biography Ascharina Andrey
(1843 - 1896), writer and educator. Received quite a German education, he graduated from the University of Dorpat on the course of the Faculty of Law. He taught German at the Riga Gymnasium. Known for excellent German translations of poems by Pushkin, Lermontov, Nekrasov, Maikova, Feta, Count Alexei Tolstoy, Gogol, and Polonsky, Melnikova Crypt and other. To cooperate actively in local publications (stories and journalistic articles), are enclosed in metropolitan newspapers. Separately out: "German Grammar for Russian-medium schools" (Riga, 1887, and the following editions). A. was an outstanding chess player.
