Biography BOBROVNIKOV Alexey
(1822 - 1865), originally from Irkutsk. His father was a teacher of a theological seminary, . knew Mongolian, . was busy Mongolian literature, . published several translations of religious books in the Mongolian language and was the first time the grammar of the language (published in 1835),

Research interests Bobrovnikov divided between mathematics and the Mongolian and Kalmyk languages: he was a full-time teachers of mathematics and supernumerary remembered taught languages, introducing listeners to Buddhism. While still a student, Bobrovnikov received from the rector of the Academy proposal to compile a grammar of the Kalmyk language. He brilliantly executed this order, creating a classic work - the Mongolian Kalmyk grammar, in which he looked into those languages, as in the original organisms, while outside the normal patterns of Greco-Latin grammar. Grammar Bobrovnikov was a valuable contribution to Oriental literature and hitherto not outdated. For this work Bobrovnikov received in 1850. second Demidov Prize. The teaching of mathematics at the academy gradually declined and was finally abolished altogether in 1854, but at the same time, the Academy was established Buddhist branch, which Bobrovnikov and was the only teacher. In 1855, Mr.. heavy general and material conditions Bobrovnikov forced to withdraw from the clergy and go to serve in the Orenburg border management, which was headed by then known oriantalist, VV. Grigoriev. At the new duty station Bobrovnikov continued to work on his favorite science, but after retiring from the Orenburg Grigorieva conditions of service have changed for the worse. Bobrovnikov suffered minor harassment by provincial authorities and died in very difficult conditions. Seven Bobrovnikov left without any means, took into his care of his friends and comrades in the academy, Professor NI. Ilminskiy and I.YA. Porfir'yev. In the Kalmyk Mongol grammar Bobrovnikov printed: "Jangar" - translation and literary-critical analysis of the Kalmyk tale poem ( "Bulletin of the Geographical Society, 1854, h. XII); "The course of Buddhist teachings - a commentary and translation from Mongolian book" Verbal instructions Mandzhushriya "(Journal of the Geographical Society, 1856, h. XVII); "On the eastern inscriptions on the edicts of the Russian princes" (Proceedings of the Archaeological Society, 1861, t. III). After the death Bobrovnikov Grigoriev, who were sent Bobrovnikov paper, published a book: "Monuments of Mongolian square letters, Explained AA. Bobrovnikov, with additions VV. Grigorieva (St. Petersburg, 1870).
