Peter Delicyn Spiridonovich

(1796 - 1863) - interpreter of the Church Fathers. The son of a Moscow priest who graduated from the course at the Moscow Theological Academy and served in her 45 years of the department of mathematics and physics. As a student, Delicyn formed with fellow 'students' academic society, which served as "soveschatelya" (t. e. person to which is mandatory for the meeting, when its scientists' work, members of society). Like many of his translations of ancient classics, and made up of courses of algebra, trigonometry, mechanics, mathematics, geography and paschal, they were not published for lack of funds, and are stored in the manuscripts in the library of the Moscow Academy. When the Moscow Academy in 1843. undertaken was the publication of "works of the Holy Fathers of the Church in the Russian translation", . Delicyn was elected to his editors, . and all made before his death, transfers (namely the creation of Basil the Great, . Gregory the Theologian, . Athanasius, . Saint Ephrem, . Theodoret of Cyrus, . Isadora Pelusiota, . Nile Sinai, . Gregory of Nyssa, and Epiphanius of Salamis - a total of about 1500 sheets of print) was published under his editorship,
. Persons competent say that the whole translation is more accurate to call his own labor "Russian Monfokona" as they called Delitsyna his staff to publish. Translation differs a great proximity to the original, which hurts sometimes smoothness and accuracy of Russian language. From his own writings Delitsyna available in print only a collection of his sermons (he was from 1833 g. was a priest), issued in 1864. In the late 50-ies Delicyn, on behalf of the Holy Synod, was engaged in revising the former Russian translation of the Holy Scriptures. Being spiritual censor, . Delicyn not only was a stranger to excessive rigor, . but often he was assistant and associate sponsors, . as, . incidentally, . presents the story of the famous essay Rudneva "On Heresies and schisms in the Russian Church", . which could go out only because of his support (see,
