Biography Dzhunkovsky Stepan Semenovich
(1762 - 1839) In 1784, at the request of the king's confessor Samborskii, Empress Catherine II sent him abroad for improvements in the sciences and in agriculture. Dzhunkovsky spent 7 years in England, France and Flanders, and on his return to Russia was appointed a teacher of English to the Grand-Duchesses. In 1800, Mr.. Dzhunkovsky identified member of the expedition harvested government securities. Since 1803, Mr.. Dzhunkovsky 25 years and was a member of the Permanent Secretary of the Imperial. Free Economic Society and was a permanent editor of the "Proceedings" of society, was the annual reports and has written numerous articles on agriculture and home economics. In editions of the Free Economic Society: "A new and complete system of practical and rural home economics" (1807, 15 volumes) and "Circle of economic information" (12 books), Dzhunkovsky took the main part. Government often put him different tasks: to bring all weights and measures in the Empire in the monotony of colonial settlements, for Livonia. In 1811, Mr.. Dzhunkovsky appointed director of the department of state farms and public buildings, and then he was assigned to dehydration neighborhoods of St. Petersburg. Dzhunkovsky saved us a unique description of Alexandrova cottages, situated on the border of Tsarskoe Selo and Pavlovsk, giving this to be a living illustration of the moralistic tale of Catherine II "On tsarevitch Chlorine". The book bears the title: "Alexandrova, amusement garden of Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich", published twice - St. Petersburg, 1794, and Kharkov, 1810, in French - Vienna, 1804; written in verse rather coarse (cm. Shubinsky, "Historical Essays and Stories", St. Petersburg, 1893). In addition, published "The question is about the need to exercise in agriculture and economy of all property owners of estates" (St. Petersburg, 1809), translated "On the diseases of marine ministers and others. His biography ( "Northern Bee", 1840, N 113) is written D. Priklonskii and published by the Free Economic Society (St. Petersburg, 1840).
