Born in a family of doctors. After graduating from high school in Moscow, Mr. v1921. entered, and in 1927. graduated biological otdeleniefiziko-mathematical faculty of Moscow GosudarstvennogoUniversiteta. Student Koltsov and Chetverikov. In 1927-1930. Graduate Institute of Zoology, Moscow State University, at that time worked under rukovodstvomS.S.Chetverikova on the problem of phenotypic manifestations of mutations. V1930-1936. Astaurov - Officer Sredneaziatskogonauchno Research Institute of sericulture and shelkovedeniya (Tashkent). Since 1935. by 1967. worked as a researcher, and later head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Experimental Biology (from 1938. - Institute of Cytology, Histology and Embryology Academy of Sciences of the USSR, from 1948. -Institute of the morphology of animals named after AN Severtsov USSR). In 1967. Astaurov organized the Institute of Developmental Biology, Director of which he remained until his death. In 1958, Mr.. izbranchlenom correspondent, in 1966. - Academician of the USSR.
