Biography Keyserling, Alexander Andreevich
(1815 - 1891) one of the authors of classic works of "Geology of Russia and the Ural Mountains", which served as a basis for further geological studies Russia. Born in the Baltic region, Keyserling graduated in the University of Berlin, where he studied the original law, but under the influence of famous scientists of Humboldt and L. von Buch, soon carried away by the natural sciences, all the major industries which developed Keyserling during his many years of scientific activity, although the most significant work of its focus on geology and paleontology. Even while abroad, Keyserling published, together with the friend at the university, later famous zoologist Blasius, several zoological and geological works. Since 1840, Mr.. Both scientists moved the scientific activity in Russia, invited to participate as naturalists in the attempt by Baron A. Meyendorff expedition for the study of industry and natural riches of Russia. In 1887, Mr.. general acceptance of scientific merit Keyserling was reflected in the solemn celebration of 50 anniversary of the publication of his scientific work, which was attended by all the Russian scientists and institutions of society.
