Biography Kirpichev Victor L.
(1845 - 1913). He graduated from the course of the Mikhailovsky Artillery Academy. In the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology, taught courses resistance of building materials, lifting equipment and construction of machine parts and supervised projects on mechanics. He was director of the Kharkov Institute of Technology, then (1898 - 1902) of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, in which the device took an active part. Last ten years was professor of applied mechanics in the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. Major works Kirpicheva: "Strength of Materials" (1898), "Foundations of graphical statics" (Kiev, 1902), "Unnecessary unknown in structural mechanics" (ib., 1902), "Conversations about mechanics" (St. Petersburg, 1907). Kirpichev one of the first in Russia, drew attention to the broad technical community on the issue of protection of workers against accidents and wrote the introduction to the book: "Protecting the lives and health of workers" (published by the Ministry of Trade and Industry). - Wed.
