Irsha al-Hindi

Indian astrologer, apparently, who lived in Baghdad in the early Abbasid period (2 nd floor. VIII cent.). The name "Irsha" is perhaps the Arabs attempt to transliterate the Sanskrit "Rishis" or "Arshya". I.H. - The first known astrologer from India, who worked in the Baghdad Caliphate and being acquainted with the techniques of Muslim astrologers their Indian counterparts. His own works have not survived, but he is often cited in the Arabic astrological works of the IX. (eg, in Al-Saymari), and from the writings of Ibn Abi-p-Ridzhala, translated into Latin, became known even in Europe. Arab authors cite his horary techniques find treasures and determining pregnancy in women.
