He was educated at Hamilton College and Columbia University, then taught English at Dartmouth, the University of North Dakota and University of Delaware. In 1926, Mr.. L. married Carolyn Uelleys (Wallace), the daughter of an astrologer Athens Gail Uelleys. Then he became acquainted with astrology - the first lessons he gave the mother-in-law. However, the main occupation of L. Astrology was not immediately. At first he tried to make a career writer. However, the economic difficulties of the period of depression abroad 1920 - 30-ies. A forced. revise their plans, and in 1934. He began working professional astrologer. Under the pseudonym of Oscar (Oscar), he published the book "Astrology for the millions" (1940), which received great success. Another well-known book A. - "Stars know that ..." (1935). These two popular books written L. resulted in astrology large number of people. In the late 1930's and 40-ies. L. was editor of the magazine "Horoscope Magazine", and in 1950, Mr.. founded his own magazine "The Astrologer". During this period, he moved to Arizona, where he died of a cerebral hemorrhage July 14, 1951, as predicted by his own horoscope. L. developed his unique approach to astrological interpretation, based on equal houses and the testimony of signs. For the history of astrology work L. important that he began to use the psychological approach to astrology during the celebration event-oriented astrology.
