Biography al-Madzhriti
(Abu al-Qasim Maslama ibn Ahmad al-Madzhriti) (2 nd floor. X in., Madrid - 1008, Cordoba, Spain) Originally from Madrid, he worked in Cordoba under the Caliph Hakim II, and Hisham II, was considered the head of mathematicians and astrologers of his time in Andalusia. M. - A teacher of many mathematicians, astronomers and astrologers. M. - Author of a number of Astrolite-astronomical works, in t.ch. processing of astronomical and astrological treatises Brethren of Purity (cm. Ikhwan al-Safa). M. credited with creating the book "The purpose of the sage," better known under the name "Pikatriks" (Picatrix, distorted Buqratis = Hippocrates, Hippocrates). This compendium of knowledge on magic, astrology, cosmology and esoteric in general. In particular, it sets out the theory of astrological effects of the planets, zodiac and parking Moon. This book is being translated into European languages in the middle of XIII. (lat. edition - 1252), had a great impact on astrology and magic of the Middle Ages (in particular, on Agrippa of Nettesheim).
