(1877-1949) Born PRIEGO July 6, 1877. He was educated at the universities of Granada and Madrid. He devoted himself to politics, entered the Cortes from the Liberal Party (1906-1923), in 1917 he was appointed Minister of Public Works, in 1922 became the first civilian defense minister. During the reign of Primo de Rivera on the support of the monarchy Zamora went to the Republican viewpoints. In April 1931 won the municipal elections in Madrid. Became head of the Revolutionary Committee, who demanded the abdication of Alfonso XIII. April 14, 1931 Zamora was elected chairman of the interim government, and December 11, 1931 - President of the Spanish Republic. In the end, under pressure from the left most of April 7, 1936 was forced to resign. He emigrated to France, then to Cuba.
