(1483-1530)
A descendant of the great Mongol military leader Genghis Khan through his second son Jagatai and no less famous Turkic warlord Timur, or Tamerlane. His real name Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur - the second name, meaning 'tiger' - was taken from the Mongols. In 1495 he succeeded his father, Sheikh Omar Mirma, ruler of Fergana, but intrigue and rebellion on the outskirts of powers greatly reduced the size of the territory was subject to his. By 1501, Babur had lost nearly all his father's possessions, but by a series of military expeditions returned to Kashgar, Kunduz, Kandahar. Nevertheless, his short reign in the lands of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, it was noted reforms in the management and construction of large public buildings. Babur died Dec. 26, 1530, inherited the throne of his son Humayun.
